8 Key Roles & Responsibilities to Build a Great Game Development

When developing a game, choosing the roles of each person is dependent on the kind of game and the platform you're designing the game. The role of the team in developing video games varies, and while some might be an essential part of the process, others maybe not be so important. Yet, they all significantly contribute to the overall development and growth of the sport.

The game development team's scope of the game could include many players or be a single player. The following are the key roles of video game development:

1. Concept Artist:

Concept artists sketch the first look and style of the game making a visual representation of the concept for the art department during the beginning stage of its development.

2. Producer Producer:

A producer of video games manages the marketing and business aspects of game development, including managing budgets.

3. Project Manager:

Project managers oversee the entire development process to ensure that milestones are achieved. They are the primary contact between design team members and the executive management and anticipate any difficulties or threats they could confront.

4. Game Programmers:

Game programming is the process of writing a game's code creating the game engine and creating playable games for prototyping and release. They design the game mechanics, develop an interface for the player, add graphics and music, and create the algorithms needed to make the game run smoothly.

5. Game Designers:

Video game designers create the story characters, characters, dialogue, and all aspects of game rules. Designers establish the difficulty of playing and the obstacles players will confront.

6. Artists in the Game:

Animators 3D artists or FX designers are accountable for creating the appearance and feel of game assets. Audio engineers and sound designers are also part of the process as they make all of the sounds heard throughout the game, from the opening theme to the sound effects in the menu.

7. Level Designer:

The role of a level designer is to design the levels and missions of the video game. Level designers draw their inspiration from concept art and the Game Design Document (GDD) to create a realistic environment, establish the limits of the game, and keep the style in line with the game's goals. Level design is the place where the physical limits of the game are set.

8. Qualitative Assurance:

The quality assurance team evaluates games throughout development. Testers for quality assurance, commonly referred to as video testers will play a game several times before submitting thorough reports of any glitches or crashes they encounter. Tests for quality control ensure that gamers do not face any issues or glitches that can negatively affect their gaming experience.
